The Main characters: In the back, Yuudai Gin. He is introduced as a traveling monk who saves the village of the heavenly mountain. He has strange abilities, including the ability to summon great beasts. His lord has sent him to protect the child Kisa. Keitaro has lived in the village for a few years. He's very close to the Sakura Sachio (Kisa's Mother). He has uncanny skills with weapons, especially against demons. Apparently, he was sent to the village by his boss to protect redeem himself for a past failure and find a new purpose in life. Kisa the little girl is quiet, sweet, and gentle. However, there's something about her that has been drawing alot of attention from everyone... even demons. She's never left the village beause she was supposed to be safe there. After her mother is kidnapped, though, she sets out on a journey to find her father, renouned to have been the greatest demon slayer ever to live. If only she knew where to look. Now, Gin and Keitaro are traveling with her to find him. But as they go they find out secrets about the gods, demons, and most importantly, the Tenkagi. *SPOILER 2*
Daikuro: Lord of demons. Master of shadows. He has a strange interest in Kisa and her mother Sakura. Not only that, Gin's magic won't work on him.
Often misunderstood, the beautiful demigod/half-demon who rules death and escorts souls to either an afterlife with Benehime, god of change and the underworld, or Daikuro, lord of demons. Humans sent to Benehime enjoy an afterlife in heaven. However, those taken to Daikuro must earn redemption by serving him. Some will earn a second chance, to live again as one of the living. Others perform such great deeds, he petitions Takakami to grant them entrance into heaven.
